Shaikly coaches attended a fabulous two hour workshop this morning lead by ex-England Rose and London Pulse's defender, Lindsay Keable. Her invaluable knowledge and experience were packed into a 2 hour session focusing on defensive skills.
Throughout the morning, using the Essex Development Squad year 7 and 8 girls, she demonstrated multiple drills focusing on footwork, intercepting, closing down space and zonal defending.
Although the pace was quick, in order to maximise the value to the coaches, each drill was expertly set up and explained from basic skills on footwork and body position, right up to game based implementation. It enable our coaches to learn new drills, games and activities to incorporate into our Wednesday training sessions for all age levels.
It's always very inspiring to soak up the experiences of such a fabulous international netballer and come away motivated to share her expertise to further develop the ability of all our Shaikly players.
We can't wait to go back after half term and try them out. Thank you Lindsay!
