Shaikly Netball Club is a fun and friendly youth netball club for girls in the Colchester area, aged between 8 and 16, run by fully qualified netball enthusiasts. Our aim is to teach you the basic skills and knowledge to be able to play netball either competitively or socially, but most of all, learn to enjoy the game we love so much!
Our club is organised into year groups with a dedicated and qualified coach responsible for each squad. Each year group plays in the summer and winter Colchester Youth League and all members of the club will have the opportunity to work towards playing in a league game. Whether you have any experience or are brand new to the game there is a clear development path for all players. The coaches will help you learn the rules, positions and main skills and tactics so you can find your place within a netball team and progress in the adult league.
Run entirely by volunteers, there are plenty of opportunities to develop within the sport of netball either as a coach or official. Many of our players have learnt to coach or umpire with our support and mentoring. Plus, with netball enthusiasts in charge, there is always someone organising a trip to watch the England Roses play, an end of season disco, a coaching workshop with Super League players or much more.
Whether we win or lose, everyone at Shaikly grew up playing and loving netball and our main aim is to pay that forward by being inclusive, supportive and motivating, while allowing our members to grow as players, enjoy being active, and work towards improving their netball skills and ability.
