As a player:
Shaikly follow a three tier training structure to accommodate the varied abilities, reasons for playing and goals of each player. All new players will start in the 'Skills Squad' in order to ascertain that further squad placement is an appropriate fit. Movement between squads is fluid and dependent on the development of each individual player.
Training is once a week on a Wednesday night at Philip Morant School & College. Colchester Youth League games are played on a Thursday at the Gilberd School. Players need to be available for both.
All members must be registered on an annual basis with England Netball. Their terms and conditions can be found here. It is also a requirement that you are able to follow the Shaikly Netball Club Code of Conduct and that you have read the Shaikly Information Document.
If you are aged between 8 and 16 and would like to play netball, Shaikly Netball Club is open for new members. Contacting the club to express your interest is the first step, you will then be contacted to organise a trial session.
As a volunteer:
Shaikly Netball Club is organised and run entirely by volunteers. All our coaches and assistants are enthusiastic parents and/or netballers who are passionate about the sport and sharing that passion with others. We rely on the generosity and good will of these people to keep the club running, support and guide our members and cheer on the teams week in and week out, in all weathers!
You don't necessarily have to know how to play or be a player yourself. There are roles for everyone! We are always looking for willing helpers as team managers, first aiders, or training assistants. For the right person, there are plenty of opportunities to gain coaching and/or umpiring qualifications in exchange for your time, commitment and enthusiasm. Contacting the club to express your interest is the first step. You will then be contacted by a representative of the club.
